The Allen Water District is a regional water district formed under Ohio Revised Code Section 6119, and as such, is a political subdivision of the State of Ohio. The Allen Water District's actions are directed by a Board of Trustees. This Board consists of four members appointed by each township: American, Bath, Perry and Shawnee, two Members-at-Large appointed by the Board itself and one member appointed by the Allen County Commissioners.
The Board of Trustees of the Allen Water District, Allen County, Ohio is committed to professionally managing and facilitating the installation of public water infrastructure and providing high quality and reliable public water to the customers of the District.
Please contact the Allen Water District to see if there is a waterline that currently serves your property. If there isn't, the District can tell you how close you are to a waterline and get you more information on how you may be able to connect.
The Allen Water District was originally formed in 1989 in an attempt to get water to American, Bath, Perry and Shawnee Townships. The District now represents all 12 township in Allen County through an agreement with the County Commissioners.

This project was initiated through requests made by the Villages of Lafayette and Harrod to the Allen Water District to determine how to best serve these comunities with public water. The project consists of constructing a waterline with fire hydrants from Westminster to the Villages of Harrod and Lafayette serving all residents of both Harrod and Lafayette.
Formal public meetings are anticipated to be held sometime after the first of the year to present the estimated projects costs to residents. The District has delayed the public meetings in order to obtain a greater assurance from funding agencies as to the amount of grants/loans this project may be eligible to receive.
An Informational Meeting was held on June 26, 2018 to present information relating to the proposed waterline to the affected property owners. The Allen Water District is requesting all affected property owners provide written comment to the District stating whether they are in favor of or opposed to the project by August 3rd, 2018. The Board of Trustees will review all comment at their August 8th, 2018 Board Meeting and make a decision on whether or not to proceed with the project.
